Hi All,
Its been a little while since the last ET blog post but we promise that there will be plenty to come in the future. Hopefully that you will find these blog posts interesting, something to read while you are on the bus / train to work.
We thought we'd take the time to talk about an interesting topic - Fake Tennis Racquets. You have probably heard the saying before "If something is too good to be true then it usually is" and most retailers will mention places such as eBay as a good example where you can get a $250 racquet for about $100 which does seem to be too good to be true and in some cases its true, those racquets are fake.
Some tell tale signs that a racquet is fake:
Check the Grip - Most fake grips will be of a different color and also a poor quality grip
Check the Butt Cap - Fake butt caps on racquets is usually the tell tale sign, they will be of poor quality and also be of a different design
Check the paint job- Tennis racquet manufactures are now getting smarter making subtle cosmetic changes that allow a customer to tell between a fake and real racquet. A fake racquet will most likely have a inferior paint job.
Check the grommets - We've seen customers come in store before with a fake racquet to get it restrung. Unfortunately we couldn't restring it because all the grommets were out of place!
The above are only a few things that will help you in making an informed decision when deciding to purchase a tennis racquet. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask us, even a quick good check will show plenty of articles that will help picking out a fake racquet.
Cheers,
Everything Tennis
